From Conference Research to Scholarly Impact: Advancing Research and HEC-Aligned Publications through ICASE-2026

STEAM Team October 28, 2026 • By Maliha Khalid (Blog)

Moving Beyond Conference Presentation

Research shouldn't end up at an international conference. Presenting a manuscript gives you the chance to interact with scholars addressing related issues, exchange discoveries, and get scholarly input. But what transpires after that presentation is where the true value lies.

A conference can be a crucial stage in transforming a research idea into a stronger manuscript, a peer-reviewed publication, a research collaboration, or even an invention with practical value for academics, especially graduate students and early-career scholars.

With the subject "STEAM for Future-Ready Societies," ORIC is bringing this viewpoint to ICASE-2026, the 4th International Conference on Advanced STEAM Education, which is scheduled for November 2–3, 2026.

Our goal is to assist a research process that continues beyond the submission of an abstract. From study proposal to conference presentation, academic criticism, article writing, peer review, and publishing, we want researchers to have a more defined path.

Linking Research to Practical Issues

When research addresses issues that are important to society, business, education, healthcare, and the environment, it gains greater significance.

Because ICASE-2026 is multidisciplinary, academics have the chance to look at these issues from several academic angles. The fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, future skills, sustainability, healthcare innovation, biotechnology, education, climate action, and emerging technologies are all becoming more intertwined.

For ORIC, this interdisciplinary dimension is important. A strong research project may begin within one discipline but it is better to find greater relevance when its findings are considered alongside perspectives from another field.

The conference therefore provides a platform for researchers to present work that contributes to current global and local priorities while opening opportunities for academic discussion and collaboration.

Research Quality Comes First

Publication should not be treated simply as the final administrative step after a conference.

A publishable research paper begins with a meaningful research question, an appropriate methodology, reliable data, sound analysis, and a clear contribution to existing knowledge. Researchers should also pay close attention to research ethics, accurate citation, originality, authorship, and responsible use of data.

For those preparing their submissions to ICASE-2026, I encourage researchers to look beyond the abstract and consider the complete research story:

  • What problem does the study address?
  • Why is the problem important?
  • What methodology has been used?
  • What evidence supports the findings?
  • How does the research contribute to existing knowledge?
  • What are its practical or academic implications?
  • What further research can emerge from the study?

Turning Conference Feedback into Better Research

One of the most valuable aspects of an academic conference is the opportunity to discuss research with people outside one's immediate research environment.

A keynote speaker's query, another researcher's suggestion, or a debate during a poster session can highlight a shortcoming, offer an alternative interpretation, or point to a topic that merits more inquiry.

For this reason, rather than being only presenting activities, the Poster Competition and research talks at ICASE-2026 should be seen as chances for academic interchange.

Researchers may reinforce their arguments, enhance their analysis, bolster their discussion, and get their work ready for a future journal submission with the support of feedback they get during the conference.

These exchanges can also be the start of future research collaborations and academic networks, particularly for young researchers and postgraduate students.

A Publication Possibility through Innovations in STEAM: Research & Education

An essential part of this study-to-publication process is the potential connected to TUF's research magazine, Innovations in STEAM: study & Education.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized the publication in the "Y" Category because it provides an institutional platform for research on STEAM education, interdisciplinary scholarship, and related disciplines.

Submissions are open until December 31, 2026, and suitably selected pieces will be published in this Special Issue without incurring publication charges (APC).

After the conference, registrants have a fantastic opportunity to continue their research by discussing the results, getting feedback, polishing the manuscript, and submitting it for peer review and possible publication.

ORIC-TUF's Top-Tier Recognition for Proven Research Excellence

Demonstrated excellence at the national level supports our commitment to converting academic research into intellectual and economic impact.

The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at TUF has been awarded the prestigious "X" Category ranking by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in its Annual Validation Report, achieving an overall score of 75/100. Nationally, ORIC-TUF stands 8th overall across Pakistan and holds the 3rd spot among all private sector universities nationwide. Regionally, it is ranked as the 2nd leading private university ORIC in Punjab.

Research, Innovation and Intellectual Property

Publication is one pathway for research impact, but it is not the only one.

Some research findings may have potential for technological innovation, commercial application, community impact, or intellectual property protection. Researchers should therefore consider whether their work could lead to a prototype, process improvement, technology, patent, copyright, industry collaboration, or other form of knowledge transfer.

At the same time, researchers should consider intellectual property and disclosure requirements before publicly presenting work that may have patent or commercial potential.

Prepare your research with publication in mind. Welcome critical feedback. Follow ethical research and publication practices. Explore opportunities for collaboration and innovation. Most importantly, focus on producing research that contributes something meaningful to your field.

Through ICASE-2026 and the support of ORIC, we hope to create a stronger connection between research generation, academic exchange, peer-reviewed publication, and innovation.
